Hockey Cards

Teachers will tell you about all of the problems that they have with students bringing a lot of paraphernalia into the classroom with them each and every day. From hockey cards to Pokemon cards, the trends come and go, but there is one thing for sure—trading cards will never fully go out of style. Whether at your school it’s vintage hockey cards or Macdonald hockey cards, it seems that there is always something being traded, and among many boys, it turns out to be the hockey card collection that’s going to school for safe keeping, admiration and trading.

Kids in schools don’t necessarily use a hockey card price guide to determine what the value of their cards is, but there is still an unspoken code among children about what different cards are ‘worth’. Among kids, it’s strange to hear of hockey card prices, but a card that is worth more, like Wayne Gretzky hockey cards might be traded for 5-10 cards of lesser value. Hockey card values are, therefore, known, but the children don’t always check the value on hockey cards, they just use the word around the classroom and the schoolyard to determine relative value.

Some Cards

Some children are interested in Miracle on Ice hockey cards whereas others are interested in Upper Deck hockey cards. The latter are made by Macdonalds and are distributed by the company. Most of Macdonalds hockey cards upper deck have a pretty low value, but like everything else their value is relative compared to the other hockey cards that other children have in their possession and might be looking to trade.

Some hockey trading cards should never be traded, and in these cases, parents will intervene and advise their children on why a certain card is so important to keep. Sometimes parents will speak of the dollar value that a particular card has and sometimes they will speak with the child about the sentimental value that might be attached to it.

In any case, teachers sometimes get tired of all the paraphernalia in the classroom. Do them a favor and try to keep the number of days to a minimum. Send the Topps hockey card sets in on share day and leave them home on the majority of other days of the year whether they’re women hockey cards or Wayne Gretzky’s the best place for them might just be in the home, where the kids can enjoy them and the teachers only have to govern their behavior on share days.
